    Tourist attractions Bilbao

Bilbao, located in northern Spain, is a vibrant and dynamic city that combines a rich cultural heritage with modern and avant-garde architecture. As the capital of the province of Biscay and a significant center of the Basque Country, Bilbao offers a variety of points of interest that make it an essential tourist destination.

The Guggenheim Museum is Bilbao's most recognizable icon. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, this contemporary art museum is a masterpiece of modern architecture. Its titanium and glass structure is impressive and houses a collection of modern and contemporary art by renowned artists from around the world.

The Casco Viejo, also known as the "Seven Streets," is the historic heart of Bilbao. This charming neighborhood is filled with narrow, cobblestone streets, historic buildings, traditional shops, pintxos bars, and restaurants. Among its attractions are the Cathedral of Santiago and the Ribera Market, the largest covered market in Europe.

The Ría de Bilbao (Bilbao Estuary) is an integral part of the city. A stroll along the estuary offers impressive views of modern architecture and iconic bridges such as the Zubizuri Bridge and the La Salve Bridge. It's also possible to take a cruise along the estuary to appreciate the city from the water.

Doña Casilda Iturrizar Park, locally known as "the duck park," is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature in the middle of the city. The park features gardens, fountains, a duck pond, and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, which houses an important collection of art from the 12th century to the present day.

Plaza Nueva is an emblematic spot in the Casco Viejo, surrounded by elegant neoclassical buildings. It is a popular meeting point, especially to enjoy pintxos at the bars lining the square. On Sundays, the square hosts a market where you can find books, coins, and other collectibles.

The Alhóndiga Bilbao (Azkuna Zentroa) is another highlight. This former wine warehouse has been transformed into a cultural and leisure center by designer Philippe Starck. Azkuna Zentroa features a library, cinemas, a swimming pool with a glass bottom, a gym, restaurants, and spaces for exhibitions and cultural events.

For the best panoramic views of Bilbao, take the funicular to Mount Artxanda. From the top, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings, making it a perfect spot for hiking, picnicking, or simply relaxing in nature.

San Mamés Stadium, known as "The Cathedral" of football, is home to Athletic Club de Bilbao. Football enthusiasts can take a guided tour of the stadium and the club museum to learn about the team's rich history.

Bilbao is a city that has managed to reinvent itself without losing its essence. Its combination of tradition and modernity, along with its vibrant cultural and culinary scene, makes it an essential destination in northern Spain.
